The Radio Silenz headphones operate on a single AAA battery that will power the noise cancellation feature for up to 50 hours. With noise cancellation on, outside ambient noise can be reduced by up to 85%. Also, noise cancellation can be disabled for use without a battery.

The headphones also employ a "defeat" button that temporarily switches off the noise cancelation and fades down the audio. This allows for conversations or announcements to be heard conveniently.
