Make sure it is compatable

this lense takes really nice pictures, but the auto focus is not compatable with the Nikon D5000 which was dissapointing. For the price of the lense i dont think that it gets much better

Low price zoom tele lens

By

It's medium zoom tele that I just purchased. Very clean with chrispy optic. Low price but wonderful working on my Nikon D70s. I use it for both birding and macro's. I love this lens!

Tamron Zoom Lens

By

I use this lens all the time, whether shooting scenery, animals or portraits. Had one before. Broke lens after 20 foot drop to sidewalk. Small drops never bothered it. Immediately ordered the new one to replace the old. This is a definate must have.

Do not waste your money

By

So i bought a 90mm tamron macro with true 1:1 for $400 and it has quickly become one of my favorite lens believe it or not. Use it just as much as my L lenses. So I figure what the hey I will try this smaller aperture zoom that supposedly is macro. I get closer shots with ANY of my non-macro lens and not to mention they are actually clear. I would not pay $50 for this lens now knowing how it performs. Cheap all around...feels like a toy, horrible AF, and images are just garbage. Spend an extra $250 and get the 90mm prime from tamron and save yourself the greif. I just dont understand all these good review on this thing! I guess I should have known you get what you pay for..in this case you get less than what you pay for.

Filter Doesn't fit the lens

By

I looked at the kit and figured the filter fit the lens it is paired with. Not the case. And to swap the lens I am supposed to return the whole kit.

Pretty great

By

Got it for Christmas and used it right away on a walk with the dogs, and right around the tree. The zoom is great, the focus takes a second or two and the Camera is sometimes flumoxed on whether the subject is near or far, but usually gets its nice and clear. This might seem like a silly CON, but, the lens is really long, especially with the hood on it. I am espically please with it because I needed more zoom and this has more than enough. At full zoom it is right at the limit of what you could shoot without a mono or tri-pod. It works well enough it low light, but anything with a somewhat extended exposure time at full zoom would require a pod. But that's not an detriment for me, a good excuse to pull out the tri

Make sure it works with your Nikon

By

Does not auto-focus with the Nikon D3100. Otherwise, a great lens for the price.

Good for the money.

By

Great for wildlife but zooming in and out is not very smooth and the autofocus is slow. For the money I spent I can't complain. No frills and it does what it's suppose to do. I haven't been out in cold weather with it and the lack of smooth zooming might be an issue when I do.

Very good Budget telephoto for beginners

By

Since I bought the product, I used less often because it is a big telephoto. I used it to shot on high floors towards the ocean. The lens deliver its functions well considering the cost. The AF is slow that you need to be patient.

Questions about this item:

Marcie S  will this work for a Nikon D3100?? And if does not say if it has VR does it??
mach37 m  Ronald D, No, it doesn't. Any lens that has VR will prominently say so in its description. The lens works in a D3100 but requires manual focus.
pail o  will the auto focus work with d3000?
CINDY R  No this camera does not hyave auto focus you must focus yourself. The newer lenses are the ones withb auto focus like the lens that came with the d3000 it has a switch on the lens for auto focus on off. This unit does not have that, however this is an amazing lens. I highly recomend this lens. I choose this len over my others every time.
Shopper  Does this lens work on a nikon d40?
CINDY R  I'm not sure if it works on a d 40 since I don't have one but I am 99.99% sure that ANY nikon lense will work on a nikon... dont try it on anything other then a nikon but ANY nikon.... =) also look for tamron nikon lenses. If it say's nikon that your good to go. Make sure that you see a return option if it doesnt' work out but I'd so get that lense if I were you. I use that lens on my D3100 and I love it! I can do wildlife, good scenery, macro is my favorite, I attach a tube and then that lens to the tube and get amazing macro.
