Sharp, fast focus

My favorite lens. It quite versatile as it is not just for macro shots. With macro it has great bokeh but for distance is is very sharp.

Excellent walk-around lens

By

from Ithaca, NY  -  Semi-pro Photographer

The Tamron 90 has true macro capabilities, and unlike say a 60mm macro, allows you to stand somewhat back from your subject, for example "spookables" such as birds and insects. The 90 also has lot's of non-macro uses, especially creative portraits and subject-oriented landscapes such as a lone tree on a hill in the mid-distance. The glass seems more or less perfect to me - I'm not a lens expert, but do have and use nine or more specialized lenses in my work, so have a good idea about distortion and artifact issueslens issues. The autofocus has been vastly improved over previous Tamron versions of various lenses I've used. It is the quickest and quietest AF of any of my lenses. And finally, I'm very big on Tamron as a company, both for their creativity in designing niche lenses, and for their quality. Go read the reviews and view the pix from this latest Tamron 90 (be sure to search for the 90 Di VC USD lens to avoid finding reviews of Tamron's previous 90): I think you'll find that it's a popular and recommended multi-purpose lens. And do consider Adorama as your vendor. Their pricing and shipping are exellent, and their return policy and execution I think is almost unmatched. Enjoy shooting!

Perfect Lens at an afforable price

By

from Key West, Fl  -  Photo Enthusiast

This lens is tack sharp and excellent for use as both a portrait and macro lens. Although I ususlaly like to use Canon products, I have found that the Tamron SP lens produces a much sharper image than their regular consumer lens at a much better price than the Canon. Its a good buy and a qulaity product.

Love this lens, totally worth it!

By

from Columbia PA  -  Photography Student

I am just a photo newbie but I love this lens! Super easy to use and takes great shots. I use it for pictures of my family, clients and pets. The detail is awesome and what clarity! The only thing I don't care for that it seems to take a few seconds longer than normal to focus.....also bought it used...was in MINT shape, thanks Adorama!

By

I find this lens perfect for macro and portraits. It's very sharp and light weight. The f2.8 aperture makes it easy to focus manually and the vibration control is good for lower light conditions. I find nothing to complain about so far when using this lens. For the price it can't be beat as far as I'm concerned.

Great Micro Lens

By

from Chelsea, MA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Back in the days of film, I had a long zoom with Micro (macro) ability. I've missed that lens and although this isn't a zoom with Micro it is a great micro lens. Images are crystal clear and it allows you to tell the lens the distance you are from the object. I used it for the first time last week and it also took a great group shot of a bunch of us apple picking.

My first Macro lens and I am happy with the images I'm getting.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Does this fit Nikon D610?
SAUMYO G  I have been using the Tamron SP 90mm on Nikon D90 with excellent results. It is compatible to any Nikon mount so I believe it can be used with Nikon D610.
Shopper  Is this lens compatible with the D90?
Andrew R  Yes this lens should work with the D90
Aldo R  Is this lense fully compatible and functional with the Nikon D3200 in terms of autofocus image sharpness and magnification?
MARK S  I use this lens on my D60 and have full compatibility and functionality. Similar to Nikon AF-S lenses, it has a built-in autofocus motor. With the lens came a small paper which listed incompatible Nikon models for some features of this lens. All of the camera with incompatibilities were film cameras. All digital models showed full compatibility. One great feature about this lens is the ability to change from manual mode to autofocus mode so quickly. Macro shots typically have limited depth of field, and my camera's autofocus sensors frequently select something other than the subject as the focal point. With this lens, I can switch to manual mode and focus quickly, without taking my eye away from the eyepiece.
