About Tokina 17-35mm

This Tokina 17-35mm Bundle comes with: New Leaf PLUS 1yr Lens Warranty ( $9.95 Value) and Shipping is free!

Designed for Full-Frame cameras, the Tokina AT-X 17-35mm F/4 give photographers a new wide-angle option. With a focal length of 17mm at the wide side the lens yields a spectacular 103.9 degree field of view which is great for shooting in tight situations or for taking in wide expanses of space.

This compact wide-angle zoom has a bright constant F/4 aperture make viewing and auto focus possible in lower light situations but still maintaining a reasonable size and weight.

Two Super-Low Dispersion glass elements and one aspheric glass allow the proprietary optical design to achieve excellent contrast and sharpness as well as controlling chromatic aberration.

Tokina's exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism allows the photographer to switch between AF and MF simply by snapping the focusring forward for AF and back toward the lens mount for manual focusing. Additionally the mechanics have been designed for better seals around moving parts making the lens more water-resistant* than lenses of the past. The lens is also designed to stand up to the rigors of daily use by photographers in a wide variety of shooting conditions and environments.

* The AT-X 17-35 is only water-resistant, not water-proof and is not designed tobe submerged or used unprotected in heavy rain.

Excellent lens

I purchased this lens for RE photography. Works great! Clear and sharp for my needs. Great price and easy to use on my D8oo with little or no distortion.

the best value for wide angle lens

Goes dead after 35 days!

I was a fan of Tokina 11-16DX lens and had it in my bag for years. So I did not hesitate to buy this one after FX upgrade. I was pleased with build and image quality for all 35 days I used it. Only to find it broken last Friday. Aperture lever no longer controls aperture and there is a rattling sound when I shake it. I am stunned. Adorama obviously refers me to Tokina. Now my investment is tied for unforseable future.

Awesome bang for the buck!

I was a happy user of Tokina 11-16 DX lens for years. So picking a wide angle lens for my D600 was pretty easy. A promo discount helped. I heavily rely on a Lightroom profile for this lens.

Excellent for real estate

I purchased this lens after reading that it has very low distortion on a full frame camera. I chose it over the Nikkor for the lower distortion. I have been very pleased with this lens, it has worked well on my full frame digital and F5 film camera. It has now been used to shoot 2 weddings and over a dozen homes and I've yet to find a drawback. It would be nice if it went to 14mm, but 17 is workable at the wide end.

Great Landscape Lens

Got this lens mounted on my D800 now and have had time to put it through the paces. Tested it on a tripod with a remote trigger with a contant focal point and ran it through the stops. This lens is soft up to f5.6 and then it sharpens up and is best at f8 to f10 where diffraction settles in. THis is true through all the focal ranges but a little worse at 17mm and 35mm. Best at around 20mm.Having said that now i will say that in this lenses sweet spot it is sharp and has very low distortion. I shoot at f8 to f11 for landscape so softness wide open doesnt bother me. The edges are a little soft wide open at 17mm and is expected on a super wide angle.Great lens for the money. Build qulaity is top notched as you expect from a Pro Tokina lens.

Better than a 17-40L for me.

I shoot mostly weddings and portraits and have been through several wide angle lenses for both crop and FF cameras. My workhorse body is a FF so I generally stick to FF compatible lenses and I needed a wide angle lens that I was happy with both the performance and price. So far this lens is it for me after owning the Canon 17-40L, 16-35L v1, Sigma 12-24, and selling each one because I wasn't happy using them. As a direct competitor to the 17-40L this lens feels like it's built better, with super smooth, well dampened zoom and focus rings, a hood that snaps into place nicely and stays there, and has far less distortion at the wide end. I can now shoot wide shots and barely if at all have to correct the distortion before I'm happy with them! For about the same money this is a better lens. I would have given the Tokina 16-28 f2.8 a shot but I don't like that it doesn't accept filters and it's not weather sealed. I shoot with a lens bag and often stack my lenses without caps for quick access and lens changes so I do use protective filters and the bulging front element of the 16-28 is too much of a risk for this. Rated at 4 stars because of a slight purple fringe issue but nothing that is a deal breaker in any way. Would have gone 4.5 if available.
