About Tiffen

These filters absorb Ultra Violet (UV) light. Film is more sensitive to Ultra Violet light than our eyes. This often shows up as a haze or a bluish cast, especially when shot from high altitudes and from long distances, particularly over water.

UV filters also help protect your lens from dust, moisture, fingerprints, scratches and damage from cleaning.

Since they absorb no normal light and have no effect on color or contrast, they can be kept on your lens at all times.

Tiffen Ultra Violet filters are available in a variety of absorbtion levels and sizes.

UV filter ---------- Standard UV. Most popular protection filter.
UV MC -------------- Multi coated for extra flare protection.
UV Warm ------------ Combines UV with Tiffen's '812' warming filter.
Haze 1 ------------- Absorbs 75% of UV light.
Haze 2 --------------Absorbs 100% of UV light.
Haze 15--------------Absorbs 81% of UV light.
Haze 16--------------Absorbs 86.5% of UV light
Haze 17 ------------ Absorbs almost all UV light.
UV Wide Angle Thin - UV filter for use with wide angle lenses.

Great protector for large lens

Very large and heavy construction. Great protection for my Sigma 150-500MM lens.

Most Liked Negative Review

don't buy it

this product had a gap between the ring and the glass, the glass was not clear and I wouldn't put this in front of any lens no matter how cheap the lens is. Buy a Hoya and do it right the first time.

Great value

When buying filters for such a huge lens as the Sigma 150-500 zoom, price is a factor. Tiffen doesn't let you down. A great value. Used simply to protect the lens. Adds nothing to the image. Reduces UV.

Tiffen UV Filter

Needed the course thread for my Tamron 200-500mm lens. Works perfect

Got what I needed

When I bought my long lens, I thought I would buy a filter eventually, boy after one shoot did I ever find out that I waited far to long. I let price get in the way of great pictures. That will never happen again.

Seem to work Great

I was surprised on the Heft to this filter, Was very solid and well man..... Very pleased

Protects lens

Great lens protector

Didn't work for me

I got this filter in a bundle deal when I purchased a sigma 150-500mm lens. I immediately put it on the lens. At first, I thought I had a bad lens. I tried everything and couldn't get a clear shot with the lens. After reading some reviews on the lens, I read one that indicated they couldn't get a good shot with a filter on it. I did a test with and without the filter on it, everything else being the same. There was clearly a difference in the clarity of the pictures. I removed the filter, and started getting good shots. I'm still early in the game with my lens, but I'm beginning to think this filter was the only problem. It may work for some, but in my case, it definately had a negative effect on the quality of my shots.

Great Lens Protection

This UV lena definitely improved clarity on my shot and also is a must have to protect your expensive camera lens from scratches!

came with the lens, and it does it's job

I always use something to protect the lens and this is my favorite filter for that

No problems

This filter came in a Sigma lens kit from Adorama for only 1 cent more than the lens price by itself. The construction is fine; I have no problems. It protects the lens glass like it is supposed to. Normally I would by a Hoya SMC but figured I would give this a try for a penny. I'm satisfied at this point.
