In addition, Nikon's sophisticated Color Management System ensures colors from the scanner are reproduced accurately on different output devices such as printers and monitors.
The Color Management System, which works in tandem with ColorSync on the Mac OS platform and ICM 2.0 on the Windows platform, allows users to scan and deliver the image directly into Photoshop in any of ten popular color working spaces. The software also offers the option of autofocus with manual override.
Users can scan 35mm film in just 42 seconds and optionally scan Advanced Photo System (IX240) film and prepared Microscope slides. The Coolscan IV ED features a high resolution of 2,900 dpi with 68.7 billion colors in 36-bit color with files sizes up to 68MB.
