The product does work, and the price is attractive. But the size of the unit is much bigger than needed for the electronics it contains and this makes the unit itself quite obtrusive on top of the camera. The VERY cheap plastic mount for the hotshoe is very poorly constructed and does not fit tightly in the cameras hotshoe, allowing it to fall out when the camera has even a slight upward tilt to it as is common for lightening photography. The mount is in the center of the unit also, which causes it to be in the way if you wish to look through the cameras viewfinder. Overall construction quality is mediocre at best and the enclosed instructions are totally inadequate. But the price is below competitors models, and it does trip when lightening flashes.

The Ubertronix Strike Finder Camera Trigger (Lightning) was designed to capture lightning strikes either day or night. It uses microcontroller-based technology along with an infrared sensor to capture the most stunning photographs with complete ease. The device mounts onto the camera hotshoe, so you can walk away and let it do all of the hard work.
Depending on the storm, lightning flashes can last for several hundred milliseconds (ms) and contain dozens of strokes each occurring approximately 40 milliseconds apart. The Strike Finder has a response time in microsecond level, but total lag time depends on your camera's shutter lag time.
