We have a small photography and video business and use Macs and until recently, Dells. I have been a long time user of Lacie and WD external drives. Recently we had serious problems with the WD drives and after searching the web reviews, decided to buy two G-Tech units to see what they are like. The Lacies are still perfoming well. I am using the 3-TB G-Drive as my primary working drive and it mounts easily on my iMac. It currently has 1.5 TB of video / image files on it. When I edit with Final Cut I find the drive easily keeps up with my needs. The noise level is ok for me though I tend to turn it off when not editing. I live in a hot climate and the room regularly gets to 27 Celsius before I turn on the a/c. The drive seems to keep itself cool under these conditions which is great for a unit with no fan. My partner is using a 4-TB G-RAID and is similarly pleased with that drive. It handles the Final Cut work easily and quickly while keeping cool with its integrated fan. The LED on the front of both drives is a bit bright but that is my only negative point so far. Good value drives. I will rate them higher if they continue to perform like they do for another year or so.
