Questions about this item:

Warren C  Does this measure 1 5/8 inches square? This is the measurement that would fit my Ambico tripod.
JAMES S  The platform that attaches to the camera is 2.0" X 2.2" The dovetail wide dimension (bottom) is 1.640" square which is just over 1-5/8" (1.625") the narrow dovetail dimension (next to the platform) is 1.384" square. The depth of the dovetail is 0.394" On the Velbon head, the quick release lever is beveled to match the dovetail bevel. If you have digital calipers available, you should measure the opening for the dovetail on the head. It would need to be a little larger than the 1.64" for it to fit. The dovetail is made out of cast aluminum so you could file it down a little (or machine it if you have access to a milling machine ).
Jeff R  Will this fit a Velbon Victory 451 with a Ph-656Q Head?
ROGER G  Sorry, it misses by this "|     |" much on one side... The PH-656Q takes a 2" X 1.75", or 51mm X 45mm base, and the QB-145 is 1.75" X 1.75", or 45mm X 45mm square base. The base is the key for the most part; simply find the right sized base, from any manufacturer, and you should be fine. I have QR plates from other manufacturers in use without any issues. Only caveats are that the screw recesses similarly, and you check the materials used. I did use a plastic plate with with someone else's metal base, and it tended to get stuck, whereas when going the other way, the metal plate to the plastic base, worked better. Think of swapping cameras between a monopod and tripod. Good luck.
