Really Nice Lens

I wanted a small, wide angle lens for my Nikon and after some research, decided on the Voigtlander 20mm. While I've only had it for a short amount of time it has really turned out to be a good purchase. It's got great build quality, produces nice images and most importantly, is really, really fun to use. If you don't mind manual focus I'd definitely recommend this lens.

Voigtlander 20mm f/3.5,dissapointing

For my liking I found this particular Voigtlander lens not to my liking. I obtained lackluster results from what I expected. Adorama's customer service on the other hand was and is absolutely fantastic handling my return and applying a credit towards another lens. Thank you Adorama,...you have a regular and satisfied customer, will return often for future purchases.

solid lens

This lens is extremely well made (above Canon build quality, up to Zeiss standards) and renders nice colors and contrast. It's also really small and pretty light. This + Canon's 40mm pancake makes for an inexpensive and extremely convenient travel setup. If you have a full frame sensor and sharp corners are important to you, be prepared to stop down and still be a little disappointed (if that's you, you should look into the Voigtlander 28mm for Canon). I use it on a 5DII, and lack of corner sharpness + vignetting doesn't bother me - its awesome size makes up for those faults. It's certainly not distracting, it's just not up to Canon's or Zeiss' ultra wide angle standards. On a crop sensor most users should be plenty happy with it. In daylight, operation of this lens can be extremely fast. When shooting at f/8, focus can be set to infinity and you'll get basically everything from around 7 feet and further in focus. No AF to wait for on shutter release makes it really snappy. This makes it great for street shooting.

Specialty Lens - but a gem!

Want a small, wide prime, that wont break the bank? This 20mm is a gem. The colors and overall IQ are superb. MF is less of a problem this wide. It is "chipped" for focus confirm as well. I use it on my t2i as a walk around lens giving me a 32mm prime. f/5.6 and smaller are super sharp. NOT for low light, NOT for anything moving. GREAT colors. Small and inconspicuous great for street. Built like a tank.

Small and light

I purchased this lens to use on my DX-format Nikon DSLR, so it end up cropping to a 30mm, which works out great for pretty much anything that doesn't move too fast. This lens has quite a few poor reviews on its light falloff and edge performance, but the DX sensor crops the outer edges of the lens' view out, so I haven't noticed any problems there. The manual focus is easy and precise, but the lens is *super* short, so be careful not to grab the glass when you're going for the focus ring! If you're considering a wide-angle prime lens for a Nikon and don't mind manual focusing, I would say that you can't go wrong with this lens.

Great small lens

This lens is the ideal companion for travels, still life, indoor shots. Very small but extremely sharp, has a very good retention of details in the dark area, enjoyable expecially when pictures are converted to B&W.

Because it's fun

On paper, there's not a lot to love about this lens. It's not fast, no AF, and it's expensive. On a camera, it's hard not to love. It has a very useful focal length, compact form factor, and outstanding performance stopped down a bit. It's just plain fun to take it out and shoot... and get great results!
