Died after 2 months..

from miami  -  Casual Photographer

It took me 2 weeks to receive it from adorama. I took maybe 5 pictures before it died. Don't buy this

a gift for a new DSLR owner

from Jackson,GA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I gave this as a gift to someone who only had the on camera flash. I have had experience in the past with a Vivitar flash that I used for years and had great results with. I could not afford to buy a Nikon flash as a gift and the stats and reviews looked promising so I bought it. I have had no feed back because I have not asked for any.

Used it for at a wedding!

from La Habra  -  Semi-pro Photographer

My initial fears of its cheap and junky features (plastic mount, trashy battery door) were irrelevant. The flash worked fine when tested, but the first time I actually used it, it didn't even turn on. I was still in the 30 day return period, but I made the idiotic decision of exchange as opposed to return. The second flash did exactly the same - worked once, then - NOTHING. Now I am out of the return period and am at the mercy of Vivitar (who aren't what they used to be) and their crack warranty/repair Dept. Lord help me!

Bad Vivitar Customer Service

from Southern Minnesota  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Received this flash and after using it twice, it stopped working. Returned to Vivitar for replacement/repair in August of 2010 - have made several phone calls and emails in an attempt to have my flash returned to me. They keep promising me they will get it to me but it is January of 2011 and I haven't seen it yet.I have a Vivitar 285 that works fine, but I think I will be selling it on [@] as I do not want to own and will never buy another Vivitar product. I guess you DO get what you pay for.

Great flash!

from Vancouver, WA  -  Casual Photographer

This is a true flash with built in bounce options to offset the laim built in flashes of small digital cameras. More powerful and gives better color rendition than straight on flash.

Happy addition to gearbag.

from Lake City, Fl  -  Photo Enthusiast

I always wanted the venerable 283. I needed an extra flash I could use to walk abouut and light up time exposures at night. For the price and power, a great deal.

Great value

from Princeton Junction, NJ  -  Photo Enthusiast

A great value for the cost. This is a good bounce flash for someone just starting to explore more advanced photography or a more experienced user who wants to save money. This flash is a good buy.

Good, versatile flash

from Annapolis, MD  -  Semi-pro Photographer

had to return for a replacement because first unit worked for only 20-30 flashes and then died.Replacement unit seems OK; hope so because the unit serves multiple flash situations. [...]

Poor quality

from SF Bay Area  -  Photo Enthusiast

The first flash lasted 10 days before it stopped firing. The replacement lasted just 2 days before the same thing happened. [...] I would definitely buy from Adorama again, just not this flash.
