Great backup for any job...

I keep this flash with me at all times

Worked well until it just quit!

I had this flash for 7 months and it worked fine for the money except it really went through the batteries. But it just quit working all of a sudden in the middle of a photo shoot. Now it is a very expensive paper weight.

Works well on Panasonic FZ200

By

I wanted a TTL compatible flash for my FZ200 and didn't want to spend more than I did for the camera. The Vivitar name is trusted so I bought the DF383. I works pretty well and seems to communicate properly with the camera. Only complaint I have is that it won't work with NMIH rechargeable batteries. Just to check it out, neither will my old Vivitar 285. Must be a Vivitar thing. What's with that, Vivitar.

Works Great

By

For the money this flash unit does exactly as claimed. Works great with the Sony Alpha DSLR SLT A37, the camera controls the flash as expected. Pivoting flash head great for bouncing.

Good flash for the price

By

Overall I am happy with this flash. I put it on my Sony a500, and it works great. The LCD on the back is helpful, and the flash allows you to switch between auto or manual modes. My only complaint is that it seems to take a while to recycle. Other than that, this is a great little flash.

By

I was very pleased with this product. Only been able to use it a few times, but it worked like a charm so far.

Very great product!

By

This product is great because it has fairly quick recycling time, is very easy to use for a first time flash, and it has a strong, consistent output. The only downside is the battery location. Be careful when closing and opening because it feels like it could break off. Other than that, I would recommend this to anyone!

Flash

By

I use it for fill flash for macro photography. I have only had it for a couple of weeks & have not been out in the field much lately but so far really like the difference it makes in my macro shots.

Disappointing

By

I bought the flash on line. I had it shipped to my home in Bermuda. The first day I tested it it worked fine. I went to use it the next day and it came on but would not fire. The test button also failed. As a result, I lost a $150 dollar job for 3 hours work.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  I bought a CANON T3 last month and I'm trying to decide what flash to get. Why did you pick this one? Are you happy with it?
ROSA M  I think Vivitar 285 is better, more durable and power, you just lose the swivel
Remzi K  Give any accessory that would need to remotely run a flash Vivitar DF293 ?
SCOTT B  Any manual flash trigger should work. Like the Cactus V4 or the V5. But that is in manual mode. Since this is a TTL flash, you can use a TTL trigger like Pixel Kings, Odin, Radio Poppers & Pocket Wizards TT1 and TTL5.
