Review Summary
The Vixen Optics Geoma 9-22x50 ZCF Binocular is that quite rare breed of a premium, bright zoom. There's no drab, fuzzy, high-magnification image here. And it doesn't just render optical brilliance within a narrow view, either; at the highest magnification, the apparent field of view is as wide as many flagship fixed-magnification units.
Rather light for its 50mm-diameter objective lenses and zooming optics, the Geoma makes for a practical viewer for many different situations. Used upon a monopod or chest support, you could intimately observe every moment of a dramatic boat race or extreme skiing competition. Architects and building inspectors use the Geoma to get a good gander at small facets many stories above themselves. Sitting in a comfy lawn chair on a dark night with the Geoma zoom cast above, you'll think you're flying through space as you activate the lever.
Eye relief ranges from 16-23mm and the tripod threading between the objectives has a spring-loaded cover so you don't have to worry about losing anything. To take advantage of the zooming range, some sort of support mechanism is highly recommended.
