Works as advertised. I chose the WD green because of higher reliability. Warranty is 2 years. I use as an external backup HDD for my MacBook Air connected via a USB dual docking station by Startech. Make sure the dock supports 4TB drives other wise when formatting the HDD will show only 2TB if that is what your dock supports. I chose the Startech dual dock with clone capability supporting 4TB @ 7200 RPM. In future I can fit another HDD in the 2nd dock slot. The WD came right up and easily formatted albeit tardy because of its large capacity. It's very quiet. I invested in this larger drive for the long term. It's less expensive in the long term. No additional software needed.
