The WD 1 TB My Passport Portable Hard Drive for Mac USB 3.0 features password protection and hardware encryption. It is USB powered, so no external adapter or unsightly wires are needed. Although it is formatted for use with Mac computers right from the box, it can be reformatted to work with PCs.
The fast 5.0 Gbps transfer speed of USB 3.0 is attractive, but the unit is also compatible with older 2.0 protocols, so you can use the drive immediately and move up to USB 3.0 when ready. The drive includes WD Drive Utilities, which lets you set drive timers, run diagnostics and more.
