Strong, Lightweight Speed Ring w/Thread
The 3/8" female-threaded spigot port allows you to attach this speed ring directly to your light stand or umbrella adapter. The Quantum head can then hang from the rear. You won't be able to rotate the soft box but you don't need any other parts either. With this configuration and a large soft box, the tilt of the umbrella adapter downward, is limited, but any speed ring configured in this manner would have the same limit. Let me know if you make a better rig!
In any case, this Westcott Speed Ring is inexpensive, versatile, lightweight, and heavy duty. It is the least expensive speed ring I have found for the Quantum Q-Flash and not near as heavy as the Creative Lights ring / adapter which I own too. It also has labeled rod ports.
It worked fine with my Photoflex 293. I recommend it highly!
