Great device!

Replaced my 20 year old cd player with this and am wondering why I waited so long! Easy to set up with my new Yamaha RS700 Receiver and I'm really enjoying the sound.

Do to limited space in cabinet, needed to go with single disc player. This was a goof fit, and I'm glad I went with Yamaha. Sound is great, and easy to play Ipod thru usb port.

Amazing Sound!

By

from Colorado Springs, Colorado  -  High-end Shopper

Bought the CD-S300 to replace a 24 year old Yamaha CDC-615. Wish I had purchased sooner. The sound is incredible. So much easier playing from USB flash drive too.

Long burn-in is worth the wait

By

from Salinas, CA  -  Midrange Shopper

When my old Toshiba unit that finally died in September, 2014, I bought the Yamaha CD-S300 to replace it. I use it about 1-2 hours a day in a total Yamaha system (NS670 speakers, CR420 receiver, and Goertz silver interconnects and copper speaker cables). The burn-in took until late December 2014 to "settle-in". It was worth the wait. The sound is very revealing of the CD recording quality and what is on the CD. While the increased detail exposes more of why they are poor recordings, somehow the unit manages to make them more enjoyable than before. Well recorded CDs can be simply superb. Instruments sound like they should. Trombones sound like trombones, symbols will shimmer, and violins are sweet or aggressive as the music dictates. Voices are more real and nuanced. This allows the Yamaha system to excel at hard rock, classical, Blues, Country and Western, and other types of music. I highly recommend the Yamaha CD-S300.

Yamaha Cd-S300

By

from Irvine Ca  -  Midrange Shopper

I need to write down the CD song number before turning off the player. As the player automatically plays the first song when turned-on. My Yamaha DVD S1600 remembers the last song played and starts with the next song when turned-on.

Blew me away

By

from Canada  -  High-end Shopper

I have had at least 7 higher end CD players in the $1500.00 range and this unit has blown them away for sound quality and the DAC is amazing. This is a no bells or whistles unit it does two things, it plays cds and it plays digital music very well. You wont be dissapointed.

By

from West Milford NJ  -  Midrange Shopper

I was looking for a single tray player without breaking the bank, after reviewing other brands and having Yamaha equipment in the past I decided to go with Yamaha again.i have to say the build quality is a lot better than there older stuff and the player sounds the best, better than cd players that cost twice as much.im very happy with it Yamaha stands by quality and there products if you are looking for a great single tray cd player without spending $700.00 or more this is the one to buy.

Excellent Sound For The Money

By

from North Atlanta, GA

This unit is value for money, sleekly laid out and simple to operate. The overall sound is not too colored and I like the Pure Direct button. I wish my personal player would connect successfully to it, though. Not sure where the problem lies....

Questions about this item:

Shopper  what does the wma stand for what is it?
Andrew R  WMA is an extension that indicates a Windows Media file. It's a type of audio file.
Shopper  Does this unit come with speakers?
SCOTT W  If it is simply a CD player, you are probably going to need a receiver or amplifier and speakers for it. It is one component that you would add to a larger, but necessarily too expensive system.
SCOTT W  That last sentence should read "NOT necessarily too expensive system." (!) Adorama has some great prices on all that you would need to complete a good modern stereo or video system.
Sep A  Does it play music off Android devices connected via USB? (I mean Android version > 4.1 which supports USB Digital Audio output)
