The Yamaha RX-V373 5 Channel Powerful Surround Sound A/V Receiver provides a way to process sound and video for any home theater system. Just hook up your choice of display, video source and speakers and this receiver will tie them all together. It's capable of producing five 100-watt channels of powerful surround sound.
With support for pass-through of ultra high resolution 4k video, the RX-V373 can send the signal data from source to display without any signal loss. This is the standard in digital theaters and while it's not widely available yet for the consumer market, you'll be good to go when it is. Of course, this receiver offers four HDMI inputs - which should be plenty for most modest home theaters. That means you can connect a DVD player, gaming console and still have two left over. It also has an HDMI out so you can connect an additional monitor. These connections carry 3D source material and also support Audio Return Channel to reduce the amount of cables you need to run.
If you have an iPod or iPhone, you'll be able to connect it directly to the USB port on the front panel of the receiver to enjoy stored or streamed media played back through your home theater. Since it's a digital connection, this allows for a clean, clear signal. You can even use the receiver's remote to control music playback on your Apple device. You can also connect a USB flash drive or portable audio player to widen your options.
The RX-V373 employs Yamaha's Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO), which uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for your room, wherever your speakers are placed. The receiver supports decoding for the latest formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
With 192 kHz/24-bit Burr Brown DACs for all channels, superb sound is ensured for all your movies, music and games. Plus, cueing up your entertainment is easy thanks to the multi-language color on-screen display. That's because it has an Eco mode so it uses less power to operate and has an auto-power down mode that also helps to save power.
The Yamaha RX-V373 is commonly used for Basic systems, Home theater, Large rooms, Multiple rooms / whole house, Smaller rooms / apartments and more. The Yamaha RX-V373 is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Audiophile, Movie enthusiast, Practical, Pro audio / DJ / mixing, Technically challenged, Tech savvy among others. The Yamaha RX-V373 is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Yamaha RX-V373: Easy to set up, Energy efficient, Good power output, Good remote control, Great sound quality and Simple controls

Great Receiver !
This is thei easiest receiver I have ever set up. The sound is fantastic and it has plenty of power to run two large Polk Audio side speakers, one Polk center speaker and two Polk rear speakers along with a powered sub woofer. The surround sound is beautiful . You can't go wrong with this receiver.

This unit was easy to set up and worked great from the start. I love the rich sound that my older speakers now produce.
Very easy to setup, great sound. Live in a townhome and the sound system is more than enough to bring the movie theater experience to your home. Very deep, rich sound. Lots of options to customize.
Got this system to replace an 12 year old system and to be the video input switch before going to the tv. The sound is great for my room and it's 4 HDMI inputs are perfect for my devices. I was a little let down that I needed a composite and component video output for some of my older video game systems as I was hoping I would only need 1 HDMI cable going to my television, but that's not to big of a deal as I had extras in the house.
Very good starting point into quality theater options. got this as a package with a set of yamaha speakers. was originally looking at HTIB that plays blue ray but after hearing the yamaha there was no comparison especially since my gaming system plays blue ray anyway. and the option to customize with different speakers that other HTIB do not have. if you are looking for a budget option for home theater this is definitely a great choice. only downfall i could find is that the volume numbers start/count backwards which is not a big deal at all. and does not have bluetooth connect ability but can be easily added or just use the aux input.
The only reason I did not give this a five star is that the speakers tilt up and thus I had to install braces on our home entertainment center to point them in a downward direction. Also if you have an older TV like I do it may take you a little bit to figure out how to make the the DVR and Blu-Ray player both work in HD. My TV only has one HDMI hook up. Overall, I was very impressed with the sound quality and power of the system. I also like the sound balancing system that comes with it.
we purchased this system the week before Christmas and found it easy to setup and easy to operate. We coupled with a Harmony 650 remote and the whole system operates flawlessly,we are by no means"Techies" and had very little trouble setting up the entire system.Great system for the money, and 65 year old ears.
I bought this receiver as part of the HTIB YHT-497BL. This is a great system and easy to set up and calibrate. The only functions I wish it had, although I can do without, would be Airplay, Bluetooth and HDMI Standby Pass Through (my wife would rather not have it on all the time when she's watching TV). I can use the USB port to plug in my iPhone or iPad and control the functions with the remote. Also when setting up, I recommend a 16 gauge wire over the included 18 gauge. Set up was easy and I have my Sharp Aqous 60" connected on the HDMI out, and my DISH DVR and Sony PS3 connected on two of the HDMI in's. My Sony CD Changer is connected though one of the audio in's. I also purchased a Harmony 650 remote to control everything and it controls all the functions of the receiver. The sound quality is awesome and really packs the bass. Movies and sports sound great and you can change the sound inputs for whatever you want to watch. Playing music form the iPhone or CDs sounds great as well. Definitely worth the money if you don't want to spend too much.
I use the system for audio from my computer as well as with my Blueray and Television. I love optical and coaxial audio inputs. The video features are not that that practical as NTSC is obsolete but still useful to archive Analog stuff.
Using this in my home theater. It replaced my older model Denon receiver. I've noticed a much more clear, crisp sound, especially from the center channel. It had all the inputs and outputs I needed to connect my other equipment - even those that still use old-style cables. I DO wish the unit had knobs to increase/decrease the bass and treble, instead of having to mess with the remote and get to a menu. This would be especially helpful when listening to FM without the TV set on. I bought the unit online and didn't really think about the lack of this feature. Otherwise, a good purchase. I wish Yamaha and others would include a printed owner's manual though...instead of a CD. I was thrilled when my new, SONY Blu-ray player included a complete, printed manual.
