Zeiss Ikon macro lens provides a normal perspective and allows for close focusing down to 1: 2. The Makro-Planar T* 2/50 uses a new lens design which incorporates floating elements to ensure high performance across a wide focusing range. As a result, the lens can be used for non-macro applications and becomes a versatile 'standard' lens when used with a full frame camera.
The fast f/2 aperture and distortion-free performance enables wide-open photography with a short depth-of-field without compromising the image quality. The Makro-Planar T* 2/50 is available with the F bayonet (ZF) and K bayonet (ZK) lens mounts and is designed for use with full-frame SLR and DSLR cameras. Combined with a DSLR with a 1.5 crop factor, the lens becomes a focal length of 75 mm.

Love this versatile and efficient lens. Great price and value.
Love this lens it is sharp and very beautiful. You really can't go wrong with zeiss glass. Has been a great piece that I use all the time in my arsenal of zeiss lenses.
The 50mm Zeiss Macro joined a large number of L lens and while it takes excellent photos it does have some shortfalls. In low light it does not perform well on my 5D iii. Colors in low light are disappointing and not as good as my L lens. Limited use for moving subjects. Was going to purchase the Zeiss 100mm but will buy the Cannon 100mm is instead Build quality is just outstanding, photos in good light are excellent, but not much better ,if any than the L's. Manuel focus is easy and precise
I wanted a superior lens for casual and professional shooting and after testing a few brands came away with this winner! the IQ is stunning because it asks for very little post work. I custom balance all static and event shoots and the color i get in fnish with this lens on my 5D2 demands little or no post!!!! LOVE IT, love it LOVE IT! I first purchased the Sigma 50 ( sold it after a few events) then the Canon 50L before this lens blew me away. the Canon is a GRAT lens, so dont get me wrong, I just could not get over the Zeiss results in the side by side photo comparisons with the 50L. the Zeiss is a Makro and an F2.0, but the Bokeh was way too silky and smooth to about not having it close to me. this is a manual focus only lens but the AF confirmation is very good at aiding focus for you. I have actually shoot this in a wedding for Cake and Ring shoots. it just works the way the research and other customers say it does. it opens my eyes more to photos and slows me down to contemplate better shoots.
