The Picture Within the Picture

Think you got a great shot? Maybe so--but you're not done.

Within many photographic situations there are other not-so-obvious photos hiding and waiting to be discovered by you.

Take this expample: The photo at right, shot with a DSLR equipped with an 18-55mm kit lens, set at 55mm, is a nice shot that some photographers would be satisfied with...but I saw more possibilities.

 

 



 

I zoomed in and concentrated on the details, but there are plenty of other photos that could have been taken. In fact, I spent about ten minutes moving around the scene, shooting dozens of variations from different distances and angles.

Always ask yourself, "What else in this scene is worth photographing?" Take your time. Look deeper, and you'll find many more great shots hidden within the scene.
