Canon's revolutionary EOS 5D Mark II is scheduled to ship within the week, but initial availability will be limited, according to several industry sources. Interest in this camera is high because it is the first DSLR to offer both high resolution still images and Hi-Definition, 30fps video, and the demand will exceed availability initially as Canon ramps up production.

Demand is being fueled not just by the camera's impressive statistics--21MP full-frame CMOS sensor, 1080 resolution HD video, 3-inch, high-resolution LCD monitor and live mode-- but also by a handful of impressive-looking videos shot shot with a production version of the camera that have been posted online, such as this one.

Effective immediately, Adorama is accepting online orders for the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and will ship the camera on a first-come, first-served basis as it comes in. Credit cards will not be charged until the product is actually shipped.
