onOne Software has just submitted their first iPhone application to Apple, called DSLR Remote.

DSLR Remote promises to turn the iPhone into a wireless cable release for Canon DSLR cameras. DSLR Remote will let you control shutter speed, aperture3, white balance and intervalometer; if your camera has Live View, it will also display a live stream from your camera's LCD. The Professional version will debut at $1.99 but will quickly go to its regular price, $9.99.

onOne to Introduce "DSLR Remote" iPhone Application for Canon EOS DSLR's

May 21, 2009 -- onOne Software has submitted their first iPhone application to the Apple iTunes App Store.  The App, called DSLR Remote, is a wireless cable release for Canon EOS DSLR camera's. DSLR Remote will allow you to fire the shutter, change settings such as shutter speed, aperture, and white balance - and will even include an intervalometer for time-lapse photography. If your Canon supports Live View then you'll also get a live stream from the camera's viewfinder on your iPhone.  Very cool indeed.

The features listed above will be part of the Professional version of the app, which will sell for $1.99 as an introductory price then quickly go to its regular price of $9.99.  A "Lite" version will also be available for $1.99 that only fires the shutter. The required server software that runs on your Mac or Windows computer will be a free download from the onOne website.

DSLR Remote will work by connecting a laptop or desktop PC to your Canon DSLR, then using the iPhone or iPod Touch to connect to the camera through your PC using a Wi-Fi connection.  This tethered setup will allow the photographer to move around the set or studio while maintaining control of the camera.

onOne will be posting a couple of introductory videos about the new product in the next day or two as they finish up the editing. If you’d like to be informed of the release, leave a comment and stay tuned to their blog by clicking here. They don’t know exactly when Apple will approve the app for the iTunes App Store after they submit it, but by following their blog you'll be one of the first to find out.
