All of the shades fold up to protect the LCD monitor when not in use, and many are molded or contoured over the camera’s control buttons (such as the unit designed for the Canon EOS 40D, shown), giving you pushbutton access to key controls while still protecting the monitor. And of course, the shade itself makes it much easier to accurately view images in either preview or LiveView modes so you can get a better sense of exposure and composition.
