This week is the first episode in a four-part series about metering. In this episode, Mark will explain how your camera meters light and uses that to make a correct exposure. In the coming weeks, he will also go over exposure compensation, using a light meter and some advanced light metering tricks - so stay tuned!

In this video, you'll learn about ETTL metering, spot, partial, center-weighted, average, and matrix/evaluative metering. You'll find out the advantages and disadvantages of each.

High Speed stops at sync speed in TTL

I love your videos. Such clear explanations. But what I don't understand is this: I put my HSS abled flash (380EX) on my 7D. Av mode. f/2.8. Even with HSS set on the flash, in Av mode, the sync speed would not advanced past 250 no matter where I metered. I'm not sure why this is. I thought that having the flash connected would allow for HSS (it does in M mode). Could you shed some light on this? Thanks!

Thanks for Metering Video

I want to commend Adorama for taking the time and effort to create and host these videos. This is the first I've watched, and I think it's great. I knew a lot of this, but the video gave me context and comparison I needed! Thanks!
