How'd They Do That?

In this episode, Mark talks with Jason who is currently the sport photographer at Arizona State University. Jason talks about how he "drags the shutter" in some of his photos as well as how he gets a strong rim light around some of the athletic photos.

Jason also spends time discussing his shooting strategy and how he develops a rapport with athletes so he can shoot more powerful images of them.

Learning from great people

kudos to Jason & Mark - humble, articulate & willing to share different sides to the life of a tog. for me I have learnt at least one thing from each of Marks sessions - it may not always be the technical knowhow that I come to appreciate - more its comments like Jason's "..they (pro sportspeople) don't walk on water" "keep it fun" that makes these interviews so appealing to me from across the miles. keep them coming.

Pleasant but let's not go overboard

I really like Mark Wallace as an instructor. I watch all videos he produces because he's really good at explaining technique and rationale behind a process. This was merely a feature-ish interview rather than a "how to do it" video. That said, it was a pleasant interview with a nice guy without an ego who is obviously a good photographer. I certainly don't object to this type of video but I'd really like to see more "technique" than "interview" videos in a "how to do it" department.
