Pocket Wizard expensive remote control

I agree with the other comment re: camera remote trigger. Replacing a Canon Infra Red remote, RC-6, for $25, with 2x$169 Pocket Wizards, is not exactly frugal. I love this series, but a pro studio is WAY different than an amateur. The RC-6 remote is almost one of the first accessories most amateurs get. Great for family pics where everyone in the family is included.

Focus mode

To do the last method, I'm guessing the focus mode would have to be on "focus on nearest object", otherwise it may focus on the background?

Save $$$

Wouldnt a tc80N3 or remote with camera in AI servo be cheaper than than pocket wizard(s).
