Photo lacks a focal point....

I feel like I would have wanted the two figures to be about 5 feet more to the left, placing them at the lower third point. The triangle formed by the rock slope would then have been pointed directly at them drawing your eye to that point. To me the IR is besides the point. Without a strong composition, IR is just a technical gimick.

White Balance

n my experience, setting a custom white balance is a key to GOOD Digital Infrared Photography with the Nikon d70. Because you are using a filter that blocks most "regular" light, the camera's internal white balancing mechanism cannot provide you with an accurate measurement of the colour temperature of your environment. Since foliage reflects IR light, making it the brightest, whitest part of your photo, you'll need to "calibrate" your D70 to let it know that visible light green is equal to infrared white.

Falling for IR

If a print of this was hanging in my dentists' waiting room, one glance at it would bring about an instant cure for my toothache but I would be out of there in a flash, throwing up in the parking lot. Did I say there is nothing to like about it Jack? But have a great Christmas.

Try Again

The flare is definitely distracting. The composition is "bulls-eye"-like with the people dead center in the shot. Try cropping from the right side of the image.

Sigma needs to sell a clear filter.

This camera is superior to the Fuji forensic cameras. What Sigma needs to do is sell a clear filter to replace the IR UV blocking filter. The clear filter is needed to prevent dust from settling on the image sensor. Sigma can then capture the forensic market and most likely double the number of cameras they sell.

Falling for IR

I'm a infrared lover also and I think it's great. Don't worry about trying to please the naysayers.

Why

This shot might arouse Dr. Seuss's imagination, but it didn't mine, not in a box, not with a fox, not even wearing socks! The lens flair is so distracting, its like those vision test where you start at the red dot so you can see something else....and that's just what I want to do with this shot, go look at anything else. I'm still trying to figure out why someone would waste time even bringing into photoshoot. The delete button couldn't work fast enough!

Don't sweat the red stuff

Is it November 2 yet? Jack must have had a real bad election. Don't worry. We won't blame you for all the red stuff.

Time machine??

When was this taken? I don't know IR much but maybe it was summer and this gave us a view of the fall to come. -A lighter view, benefit of the doubt.
