By Mark Wallace

December 27, 2010

Holding a DSLR for the first time can be quite overwhelming and you may want to completely understand how your camera does what it does with the buttons and switches that it has.

This week Mark will show you what these buttons do. He'll walk you through the major controls on a Nikon and a Canon DSLR.

Nikon Auto/Manual Focus Switch.

Depending on the lens, some Nikon AF lenses - when you set it to manual focus, it may lock the focus screwdrive. On these lenses, if you don't also put the camera to manual focus, you might damage the camera focus motor.

Good Stuff

I know several people that have recently made the jump into DSLRs. I'll be pointing them to this really great camera 101 crash course. Long time viewer, first time poster.
