Mark, Does the monitor have an overlay of video mask ratios? If not, maybe an addendum to this series might suggest one?

Great five-part series on HDSLRs. I'm looking forward to the next eposides. Thanks for including the info on the audio for interviewing at the end of episode 3. Here are some lower-cost alternatives that I use: Tascam DR-07 portable digital recoder. 2 @ Audio-Technica ATR3350 lav mics with 3.5 mm TS M unbalanced connector. 1 @ splitter: one 3.5 mm TRS stereo M - two 3.5 mm TS mono F. Each mic records into one side of the stereo channel. I do compression/limiting/gating in software during post, then combine the L and R stereo channels into one mono track. Recording each person separately allows me to edit out coughs, etc. Instead of a slate, I clap three times. I have the guest do this too -- it loosens them up. The slate can be intimidating.
