What is the Magic (or Golden) Hour, and why do photographers value it? Mark Wallace explains...watch this to the very end for one of the more painful out-takes of the series!


The Golden Hour is when the Sun is near the horizon (before sunset or after sunrise) and scenery is infused by a brilliant golden glow. Mark goes into the desert to photograph (and get attacked by) the Jumping Cholla cactus and gives his left calf to show how to capture the Golden Hour. And at the end of this video, you will get a surprise tutorial on how to avoid cursing when in intense pain!

Another excellent tutorial Mark. Thanks for all you do. I commend you on your ability to keep your language PC when pulling out that cactus from your leg. You did much better than I could have.

I thought Mark's explanation and know how was super helpful. I love nature photogrpahy and this video is perfect for getting those inviiting views.
