Samsung unveils new interchangeable-lens compact, four new lenses, touchscreened based point-and-shooter, and a long-range zoom compact

Samsung today announced a trio of compact cameras including the flagship NX200, the second-generation NX-mount camera, with an APS sensor that delivers 20MP resolution. This mirrorless interchangeable-lens compact (MILC) supports the innovative NX-mount lens line, which allows users to control camera functions by turning a lens ring rather than a dial on the camera body, and can record full 1080p HD movies at 30fps with stereo sound.

Featuring everything ranging from full auto to full manual control, the camera offers RAW image capture, an ISO range of 100-12,800, a 3-inch, 614k AMOLED monitor, claimed continuous shooting at up to 7fps, 10 “smart filter” special effects, panorama stitching, and an optional flash or GPS module that fits into the hot shoe. There is no built-in flash.

Samsung also announced four new NX-mount lenses:

  • 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3
  • 16mm f/2.4 pancake
  • 60mm f/2.8 macro
  • 85mm f/1.4

The 85mm lens will be available in October. Other lenses will be “available soon.”

In addition to the NX200, Samsung unveiled the MV800, a high-tech point-and-shooter with a big 3-inch touchscreen LCD that can be flipped all the way up above the camera and turned around so the subject can see herself as the picture is being taken, but lets the user operate the camera similarly to how one might control a smart phone. The 16MP camera has a 5x optical 26-130mm (35mm equivalent) f/3.3-5.9 lens with optical stabilization, 720p video capture Magic Frame and Smart Filter options.

Samsung's final act for today is the WB750, a long-range zoom pocket camera with an 18x,  24-432mm (35mm equivalent) f/3.2-5.8 optical zoom lens. Featuring a 12.5MP back side-illuminated CMOS sensor, optical image stabilization and a 3-inch LCD with 460k pixels as well as the option of full manual control, the camera is said to shoot at up to 10fps in burst rate. Other features include Smart Auto mode with auto scene selection, live Panorama, 3D image capture, and full HD video at 1080p at 30fps with Stereo sound. The camera can capture 10MP stills while shooting video. Videos can be edited in-camera.
