No mention or demonstration of taking filter on and off for focus and composition-typically requires tripod use.

I have used 3 and 9 stop ND filters outdoors to open up my 85mm f1.4 in bright sunlight. Great images but focusing with the 9 stop requires me to prefocus without the filter.
