Byran, well done I think the canon flashes are great but there are others that will work just as well and cheaper by cost even thru they are not compatible with Canon.

I understand buying this flagship flash if you are a Canon user and need digital TTL. But seriously, if you are going to shoot manual flash and switch brands; just use old nikon film flashes like the SB-26. I don't know what the canon equivalent would be, but great older flashes that don't support TTL are a great bargain for anyone shooting off camera flash.

Thank you Jesus...er, Bryan. Leave to Bryan to tell us Canon users how to use the 580EXII in manual mode. I always wondered why Canon couldn't come up with a simple method, like Nikon, to dial in a specific aperture and provide flash distance. Well, they did...it's just not as easy a function as Nikon. Gotta try it out today. Thanks Bryan for all your terrific tips and tricks!
