Nikon today expanded its offering of lenses with two ne w zooms, one for APS sensor-based cameras and one for full-frame sensor DSLRs.

Nikon today launched two new lenses for the hobbyist and advanced amateur and pro markets, respectively, the Nikon 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II long-range zoom, which is designed for APS-sensor DSLRs and is expected to be embraced by travel photographers as an all-around lens, and the Nikon 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR midrange zoom lens for general shooting with full-frame DSLRs.
The AF-S DX Nikkor 18–300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II, a 16.7x superzoom lens that is designed for use on APS cameras, such as the new Nikon D3200, D5100 and D7000, and boasts the longest zoom reach of any Nikkor lens. At full extension its angle of view is that of a 450mm lens on a full-frame 35mm sensor camera. Features include: improved in-lens vibration reduction; Silent Wave Motor; M/A focus mode switch lets you seamlessly override AF system; Aspherical lens elements; super integrated coating said to enhance light transmission efficiency; ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass to correct for chromatic aberrations; 77mm filter size; and 19 optical elements in 14 groups . It can focus as close as 1.48 feet at 300mm, and has a rounded 9-blade design for natural background blur.
The AF-S Nikkor 24–85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR II is a wide-angle to medium-telephoto zoom designed for use with full-frame "FX" sensor Nikons such as the D800 or D4. It has second-generation Vibration Technology (VR II), which Nikon claims will give 4 additional handheld stops when shooting at slow shutter speeds. Other features include: automatic tripod detection; Silent Wave Motor; Manual/Autofocus mode switch; Aspherical elements; Super-integrated coating; extra-low dispersion glass lenses and internal focus; and close focusing to 1.25 feet.
The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18–300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II lens will cost $999.95, and the AF-S Nikkor 24–85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR II will list for $599.95. Both lenses are expected to ship by the end of June.
