Canon today announced a trio of compact digital cameras that bring improved technology to the point-and-shoot crowd.

With its latest trio of pocketable compact digital cameras, Canon today brought more cutting-edge technology to digital photography snapshooters.

Canon Elph 330

Leading the pack with the most intriguing feature set is the Canon Elph 330, which is available now for pre-order at Adorama Camera, the latest compact digital camera to offer on-board Wi-Fi wireless communication capabilities that allows users to comment on photos and share them on social networks. The camera has a 12MP CMOS sensor which may perform better than a typical small sensor camera because of its lower pixel density; its ISO range is 100-6400. It also sports a 10x optical zoom lens that starts at 24mm (35mm) and is capable of capturing 1080p HD video at 24fps and 720p at 30fps. Canon claims a 34-39% reduction in lag time using the camera's High Speed Autofocus feature.

The Canon Elph 330 also provides a 3-inch, 461k dot resolution LCD monitor, has an action-stopping 6.2fps burst rate, 6-way mechanical image stabilization, and a battery-saving ECO power mode. Users can transfer images through Canon iMage Gateway, or via an iOS or Android device via the Canon CameraWindow app.

Special scene modes include Program, Portrait, Smart Shutter (automatically shoots when people smile, wink or get in the frame), Low Light, Fisheye Effect, Miniature Effect, Toy Camera Effect, Monochrome, Super Vivid, Poster, Smooth Skin, Soft Focus, Handheld Night Scene, Color Accent, Color Swap, Snow, Fireworks, Long Shutter (to blur moving subjects) and Stitch Assist (for Panoramic photos). The camera will also shoot Super Slow Motion movies at 240fps.

The Canon Elph 330 is available for pre-order for $229.99 from Adorama Camera in Black, Pink, and Silver

Canon PowerShot A2500The Canon PowerShot A2500 is a 16MP compact with a 5x optical zoom lens that starts at 28mm (35mm equivalent). Its Smart Auto feature recognizes 32 stored shooting situations and automatically chooses the most appropriate settings. It captures 720p HD video, and has a number of scene modes as well as the same battery-conserving ECO mode.

Designed for beginners, the camera offers digital (but not optical or mechanical) image stabilization, face detection, a 2.7-inch LCD, and a "Help" button which provides on-screen explanations and guidance for lost users. The

Canon Elph 115 ISFinally, the Canon Elph 115 IS is a 16MP ultracompact with an 8x optical zoom lens that starts at 28mm (35mm equivalent) and focuses as close as half an inch. The new ECO mode is said to reduce power consumption and increase battery life, and Smart Auto chooses the best settings automatically based on 32 pre-programmed scenes. The camera captures 720p HD video, and intelligent IS is said to eliminate camera shake via one of six image stabilization modes.

The camera has a 2.7-inch 230k dot LCD monitor, an ISO range of 100-1600, exposure compensation, and a built-in flash, as well as many of the same scene modes as the Elph 330. The
