A benefit is being organized

By Mason Resnick

January 15, 2010

In the devastating aftermath of Tuesday’s earthquake, a group of photojournalists, including Mary Ellen Mark, have banded together to raise funds.

This is a quick post because action is more important than my words right now. I don’t need to repeat the details of the massive tragedy, the thousands of deaths, and the urgent needs for food, water and medical supplies unfolding right now in Haiti.

A group of photojournalists who have photographed Haiti in the past have assembled a photo magazine, Haiti: One Respe, that is filled with outstanding photo essays of the country, shot before the quake. “One Respe” is a traditional Haitian greeting that means “honor and respect.”

What can you do? One suggestion is to buy the magazine for $16. All proceeds will be donated to the International Red Cross. You can order it here.

Other suggestions are welcome.

Please use the comments to leave other suggestions of ways photographers can use their talents to help the people of Haiti in this time of desperate, immediate need.
