Handheld DSLR Quik Pod announced
Self-portraits will never be the same. Quik Pod, originally introduced for compact digital cameras earlier this year, is now available in a more robust form to handle DSLRs. It's basically a pole that extends four with a tripod head at the end; you attach your camera to it, hold the Quik Pod with the camera facing you and shoot a self-portrait, or extend your reach over peoples' heads; A mirror helps you compose. The Quik Pod can double as a standard monopod. The Quik Pod will retail for $49.95 and should be available from Adorama in a few days.
For details, read the Quik Pod press release:
Fromm Works Inc., Buffalo, N.Y., creator of the Quik Pod handheld tripod, has now introduced the Quik Pod DSLR. The Quik Pod DSLR gives photographers more than 4 feet of extended arm reach. The Quick Pod DSLR offers photographers an extendable camera grip with a built-in wide angle mirror for self imaging and overhead viewing, so they can be in their own photos.
The Quik Pod DSLR also converts to an upside down monopod with a handle at the foot. This innovation provides a better center of gravity to avoid camera shake and provides a handle for extended reach when shooting over crowds or taking self-portraits.
The Quik Pod DSLR weighs 9 ounces and extends from 18 inches to 53 inches. It includes a rubberized monopod adapter tip, aluminum end cap, wrist strap, hiking clip, belly pad, carry bag and quick release camera mount. It attaches to all cameras using a standard tripod socket. An industrial strength test video is available on YouTube showing the Quik Pod DSLR holding a 28-pound steel block.
The Quik Pod DSLR is available now for $49.95
