Tod Bryant
Ready to go beyond composition basics and develop a photographic vision? Then this course is for you. Every great photograph depends on light to both create the image and illuminate it, the geometry of its composition to express an idea or a feeling, and the precise moment that reveals meaning in a scene or action. This Workshop will explore each of these elements and their relation to each other in both aesthetic and technical terms. Participants will look at and discuss great images and shoot some of their own. There will be assignments and critique/discussions of the work. This Workshop is designed to help you improve your work by giving you a better sense of how you can apply these elements to your vision.
Participants will need an adjustable camera, preferably with interchangeable lenses or a zoom lens with a wide range of focal lengths.
If you are shooting digital, use a CF or SD card large enough and fast enough to allow hours of uninterrupted shooting in RAW or DNG format.
Use full-featured image-editing software such as Adobe Photoshop CS2 to work with your images and a high quality printer designed for photo printing. If you are shooting film, make sure you will be able to process and print your images in time for the next class.
And bring items for note taking during this workshop.
Level: Intermediate to Advanced
