Event Description:

Welcome to the exciting world of Lomographic cameras, techniques,
and philosophy.

This creative analog snapshot movement and assortment of unique and offbeat cameras stretches across the globe and inspires countless “Lomographers” with the mantra “Don’t Think, Just Shoot.”

The little plastic camera that started 2 revolutions! Join Laura Nealon, as she traces the Diana’s roots back to where it all began in the 1960’s, you’ll learn how the camera has affected trends and become a classic artistic tool for several generations of photographers. In 2007 this camera was reborn as the Diana+, Lomography’s most versatile and successful camera ever. Laura will go through all the basic features of the camera, from its dreamy plastic lens, to its seemingly endless line of accessories—spotlighting its pinhole features, endless panorama’s capabilities, multiple exposures, and various other tips and tricks to help you get the most out of this versatile tool.

You’ll be able to discover all that makes the Diana+ and DianaF+ the cameras that the whole world is buzzing about and pick up tips, tricks, and dazzling techniques.

During the second half of the workshop, you’ll be able to borrow a loaner camera (please remember to bring your driver’s license/photo ID), receive your free roll of film, and join us for a LomoJourney around Chelsea, and experience the fun of Lomography first hand!

Whether you’re brand new to Lomographic cameras or a seasoned professional, you’re sure to gain a wealth of knowledge about this fabulous camera, the dynamic Lomography community, their photographic beliefs and practices, and their very special dedication to creative analog photography.

Requirements:

A love of analog and experimental photography (or just a curiosity about it!) Attendees are invited to bring their Lomographic cameras along for questions or tips on their use. Please have your driver’s license/photo ID available so that you may borrow one of our Diana+ lend-a-lomo’s during the LomoJourney portion of the workshop.
