Event Description:

Lucas Gilman is one of the most recognized travel and adventure photographers, whose keen curiosity and love of adventure takes him on journeys around the planet as he creates his signature style of photography. During this evening's presentation, Lucas will show you how to produce dramatic and powerful images using Nikon Speedlights. After a brief intro, where Lucas will share some of his recent work, he'll get right into demonstrating some of his techniques while shooting with a model onsite for this event.

He'll be covering topics that include:

• Ambient /Flash/Mixed Lighting /Slow Sync Strategies to utilize or eliminate ambient light
  How to blend flash with various types of ambient light and use it creatively
  How to use flash with tungsten, fluorescent, and other types of light
• Off-Camera Flash All the details–how to trigger and control Nikon Speedlights using transmitters, including the Nikon SU-800, PocketWizard flexTT5 and PocketWizard AC3
• HyperSync, Nikon FP Sync, Rear Curtain Sync Stop action, create dynamic motion blurs, and control depth of field, producing stunning images using PocketWizard FlexTT5 and Nikon SU-800 with Nikon Speedlights
• Lighting Techniques How the position of the flashes, shape and control light
• Light Modifiers How to use: softboxes, grids, diffusion panels, and reflectors with Speedlights to control light and produce dramatic results
• White Balance/Gels Using gels for color correction and dramatic effect

Be prepared for a full evening of learning not only the basics of flash photography but also how to take your Speedlight photography to the next level.

Lucas Gilman

Lucas Gilman is one of the leading adventure sports and travel photographers in the industry. He incorporates and embraces new technology including using Nikon Speedlights and accessories to produce cutting-edge images. His powerful incisive images run in top publications and advertisements worldwide. A love of adventure and an addiction to color creates his distinct style of photography. Lucas regularly works with editorial and advertising clients that span the globe including: National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, ESPN Magazine, ESPN.com, Men's Journal, Outside Magazine, Men's Fitness, Maxim Germany, FHM Australia, and the New York Times. Lucas was recently featured on the NBC TODAY Show and MSNBC for documenting the 2nd largest waterfall ever successfully descended in a kayak. He also appeared as a guest on Good Morning America telling his story of documenting the first successful descent of Abiqua Falls in central Oregon. CNN also profiled Lucas during primetime and highlighted his Abiqua Falls video footage and behind the scenes work. Lucas was a finalist in the Red Bull Illume worldwide photography competition, which saw more than 32,000 images submitted.
