Gina Alyse Lengyel
Whether you are an established professional photographer, an assistant making the transition to your own business, or someone who is just getting started, creating compelling photographic portfolios and promotional materials in an ever changing business is always a challenge. That is especially true in the competitive New York market. Gina, a successful, high-energy industry professional will share her insights on how you can design a winning portfolio. After discussing general principles of putting together portfolios and reviewing current industry standards, she will target individual ways to customize your portfolio, as she samples participants’ books with re-edits from start to finish. You’ll come away feeling more confident about what you are showing, have a better understanding of your style and be able to use that insight to help your book evolve. Gina will present guidelines on the fundamental rules of selecting and producing promotional pieces and marketing your ideas for promotions whether you’re spending a little or a lot. Additional topics: how to approach clients with or without an agent; how best to present yourself at meetings and to decipher the different types of clients and how to approach them; assembling a production team and why it’s a vital concern; pricing guidelines; and when and why you need legal representation. This is an invaluable Workshop for turning your photography career into a successful business.
Participants should bring a sample portfolio of their work and promotional pieces, as well as items for note taking in this Workshop.
