Joe DiMaggio considers himself the luckiest person in the world, because each and every day he gets up knowing that he genuinely loves what he's doing. He's had the great good fortune to have had a wide range of personal and professional experiences that have taken him around the world many times, and renown photographic mentors such as Eugene Smith, Alfred Eisenstaedt and John Dominis. Whether he is reading about early pioneers of photography, or the present day ones, Joe speaks about the ongoing magic of visual creativity and photography's evolution for the visual communicator.
For Joe, each sunrise, sunset, or thunderstorm is something brand new to experience and absorb; and whether he's making a portrait of the heavyweight champion, a TV personality, famous actor or singer, each image-making opportunity is new, exciting and different, and ultimately rewarding. In this evening's presentation, he will show his work shot on a variety of Sigma lenses; from wide angle zooms, to macro, medium and long zoom lenses, see why Sigma has become a popular choice for photographers. Join Joe as he explains his mantra of how to 'shoot from the inside out', and gives you insights into the 'magic' of photography, so you'll be able to combine your inspiration with the elements that transform a good picture into a memorable and great photograph.
Joe DiMaggio
Joe DiMaggio’s editorial work has been featured in Time, Life, Sports Illustrated, U.S. News and World Report, and hundreds of other publications. Time Magazine named his Sports Illustrated cover, of the championship Cooney vs. Holmes fight, Best Picture of the Year. His advertising photography assignments have netted him a list of Fortune 500 clients, and prestigious advertising agencies.
Presently, Joe is concentrating more on his personal work. Evident in that work is a robust spiritual undertow; he finds luminosity in everything he shoots, whether they are cityscapes or seascapes or something in between, creating emotionally meaningful imagery is his goal. Equally at ease with pictures that move, Joe is now directing a major feature documentary, titled ‘Gleason’s: The Last Melting Pot’, about Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn.
