Event Description:

Using flash on and off-camera is often a desirable alternative to using larger, heavier, and more expensive studio equipment – especially when shooting on location. During tonight’s event, Robert Harrington will show you how to use simple, lightweight, inexpensive tools to create beautiful images no matter where you are.

Whether you shoot portraits, weddings, fashion, events, or anything in between, you need to know how to use your flash like a pro.

After a brief slideshow of his photographic work, Bob will shoot with a live model to demonstrate the following techniques:

• The basics of wireless triggers
• Flash modification using reflectors, grids, snoots, and bounce cards
• One-light, multiple-light, and back lighting set-ups
• Gelling your flash for both color correction and dramatic effect
• Use of reflective umbrellas

Off-camera flash might seem intimidating at first, but this class will teach you the skills you need to create amazing light with simple, inexpensive tools.

Biography:

Robert Harrington

A lifelong snapshooter, Bob Harrington decided to take his photography to the professional level six years ago and has not looked back. He is a corporate, editorial, headshot, and stock photographer, who also specializes in teaching photography and off camera flash privately and in the workshop format.

Teaching is a large part of Bob’s business. He has presented off-camera flash around the state of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and for the NECCC and Chicago PPA. Bob is a firm believer in using speed lights for most of his work and has great success doing and teaching these techniques and helping others explore their creative sides.
