Keppler forever on Pop Photo masthead At a memorial service in memory of photo industry guru Herbert Keppler today, Hachette Filipacci President Jack Kliger announed that Keppler's name will remain permanently on the Popular Photography & Imaging magazine masthead. Keppler, who died in early January, influenced "millions of readers," during his career, Kliger said.
"Honoring Burt by making his name a permanent part of the magazine is the right thing to do," Kliger told the Adorama News Desk afterwards.
Kliger was one of many speakers who extolled Keppler's distinguished career at a photo industry memorial service which was held this morning at the New School for Social Research in New York City. Other speakers included former and current Pop Photo editors Jason Schneider and John Owens, daughter Cathy Keppler, and many others.
The service was attended by nearly 200 people, including current and former Popular and Modern Photography staff, representatives of nearly every camera company, and many well-known photographers.
