Questions & Answers

ETHAN B : does the attachment swivel as is or do you have to buy another attachment that allows the camera to swivel?RONALD F : The connection to the camera is a swivel so no other attachment is required.CHARLES L : Ethan, Yes it does allow the camera to swivel on the screw that mounts to the tripod socket, although it doesn't come with the carabiner that is shown in the photos. It also talks of the carabiner in the instructions and after a phone call to Adorama I was told this is a special order item not included in the package and I then found it's not even available any more. I use the strap with the tripod socket screw provided and it works fine. I would like the carabiner as I believe it would give more security to the system. I do like the idea of it slung over my head and shoulder as opposed to it just hanging off my shoulder. And it takes a little getting used to but it is great for street shooting. Good when you have more than one camera out on a shoot.TED L : it swivels as is; no need for additional attachment.GLORIA H : The existing piece swivels so no added components are necessary. I've been very happy with the product and much more secure than black rapid.ALASTAIR T : No additional attachment is requiredJAMES E : The attachment swivels. They may have changed the design to avoid the following problem. The swivel attachment on mine has a heavily knurled surface which scratched the camera when I put it down on a table. I solved the problem by putting a cover of electrical tape over the knurled surface. When I wrote to them about it they said a design change is in the works. That was two years ago so I don't know what they did about it. Otherwise, with the addition of the tape, the strap is as advertised and works well.VICTOR M : It swivels perfectly.LAWRENECE M : the swivel works without attachments, i use it all time during sport events, makes it easy to carry a large camera and lense.AARON P : Yes the attachment allows the camera to swivel. It makes it easy to grab the camera and start shooting. Best camera strap I've ever used.RON L : Yes, it most certainly does swivel.DAVID R : It swivels, you don't need to buy anything else. I love this thing. I use on both left and right shoulder and works fine.LARRY D : The one I have has the screw plug attached to a steel "droplet' shaped swivel and completely swivels. The one in the ad seems different with the screw plug directly on the strap and that would not swivel. L.D.ESTHER M : The camera moves up and down the strap as u want it to. I love it! Not sure what u mean about swiveling. Feel free to write backBRIAN K : The strap allows the camera to swivel. If you need to use the camera mounting screw you can attach the canera via a ring (key type) attached to the strap mounting on the camera.
Shopper : can you attach a camera grip and the strap and assure the camera grip wont fall off if its hanging? does it lock properly?BARTLEY L : Hi, I found the Sun-Sniper easy to use, also easy to carry. However it gets a little long if your wearing it on your hip. It is very well made & solidly built, however the screw may loosen, but do not have that much experience using it all the time. I would recommend buying it, just keep an eye on that screw-on part and see if it loosens for you.RONALD F : My camera is connected directly to the sun-sniper so I cannot answer your question about the grip. I can tell you that the connection to the strap is very secure.THOMAS S : I have used the Sun-Sniper strap with my Nikon D3 without hesitation. It is a solid connection which you can tighten securely. Just to be safe, every time I use the strap I make sure to tighten the screw-in connection to the camera base. I use it in studio and location shoots when I need my hands free to make adjustments. I also use it while vacationing so my camera is always ready for a great picture while walking around. If I am going to be getting a bit more physical, I use the Cotton Carrier system as it holds the camera tightly in place where the Sun-Sniper lets the camera hang freely.RON L : It's OK but I wouldn't buy another one. First the shoulder pad doesn't always stay on the shoulder, but it's easy enough to adjust back up and doesn't obstruct the sliding feature of the clip. Second, if you have a large lens on the camera it makes the camera and lens uncomfortable, giving it a heavy bounce on your hip. I find that going back to my wide camera strap with a non-slip shoulder pad and having it drape from either shoulder is far more practical especially when I want to mount the camera to a tripod quickly. Oh yeah, BTW, you have to unscrew the Sun Sniper from the camera body to be able to mount it to a ball head on a tripod.RICHARD N : From my experience,no. The Sun-Sniper screws into the tripod mounting plate in the bottom of your camera. The camera grip I've utilized to date requires the same mounting location so based on given requirements I've traded between the two carriers and utilized a neck strap as a safety factor when riding Cable Cars, etc. in S.F. I've actually complicated matters by adding the MD-10 to my D300s so the grip I was utilizing will not fit correctly without modifying the associated strap. Looking for more detailed grips, but still doubt they will play right with the Sun-Sniper, which I really do like forsaking the weight off the neck.JAMIE M : I use the D90 with the MB80 grip and have no issues with the strap coming loose. The strap attaches to your tripod mount, with a swivel device that has never come loose, nor caused any damage or grip. How secure is it? I took this camera to Colombia for three weeks last year, and I used this strap while climbing mountain trails, fording waterfalls and streams, and also grabbing urban shots in some of the major cities there (hence the wire security system). I prefer this strap/carry system over any other that I have tried, it is less fatiguing and the camera is always in easy reach.GEORGE E. F : The Sun Sniper is a great strap and have not taken it off except to mount to a tripod. Since the strap mounts to the tripod mount and the grip might also, im not sure you could use both at the same time.
Shopper : If your camera does get cut off somehow, how and to whom do you claim insurance?ROGER E : I'm not sure who is providing insurance most likely the manufacturer of the strap. Its unlikely someone will successful in trying to cut through the strap, it would take quite an effort as compared to cutting through a cloth strap. My major concern is the strap needs to be removed to allow mounting on a tripod. It would have been better if the strap connection allowed for a tripod screw or plate to be attached. Good luck - the strap is comfortable to wear and was used in travel overseas.STEVEN G : Per the information provided with the Sun-Striper, you file with the manufacturer.JULIE S : I don't know. I would call Adorama and Sun-Sniper. I bought the strap for comfort when hiking with my camera and wouldn't be without it. The insurance aspect has nothing to do with my use of it but I guess would be nice if the camera were cut off while I was wearing it but...that would be hard.

Comfortable to use

I am a journalist who at times takes my own photographs to accompany stories. So on occasions I have my camera out all day. The Sun Sniper strap carries the Canon EOS camera well. It is a lot more comfortable than a neck strap as the shoulder (in my case the left) supports the weight of the camera. The only real fault is the strap pad moves off the shoulder when the camera is brought up to shoot so I often have to re-position the pad on my shoulder. This is not a big hassle but it is something to be aware of. With the camera in position down on the hip the pad stays in position and is very comfortable. I recommend checking the screw attachment to the camera base before each use. The manufacturer also recommends this.

Misleading....

The product overall was great, but I'm disappointed because I was expecting the swivel hook in the package like I saw in the picture but the MIS-Leading photo fooled me. Any who, I decided to get the pro model and I had to order the swivel hook...due to the fact that it wasn't in stock at the time....bummer!!!!!

Fantastic

This is a great strap. You can carry the camera all day without tiring, and it is difficult for anyone to steal. The camera is always ready, and there is no strain on the neck as you frequently get with traditional straps.

this is how camera straps should be...

With a Canon 5D Mark II and a 100-400mm L lens my camera is quite heavy, but this strap actually makes it feel lighter.

GREAT PRODUCT

This product frees my hands from holding the camera but allows for quickly and smothly accessing the camera. I use it on hikes. The camera doesn't always stay behind me when walking but more at my side with the lens pointed downward. I have a shoulder injury but find this strap doesn't chafe or pull and is comfortable to wear for long periods.

Great solution

This is a great, well built strap. I was concerned with some of the comments on attaching the camera at the tripod mount. The provided screw attaches firmly and is secure, I am not concerned with my camera falling to the floor and shattering. I also bought Op-Tech's similar strap, but returned it as this one is of much higher quality.

Camera Sling, I Love IT

Makes carrying a large DSLR with an attached zoom a breeze. I no longer feel like I am bearing a lead weight around my neck. After a few uses, I also feel confident that it will not fall off. Absolutely a joy to work with.

Good Product

Needs a double swivel connection, to allow the camera to spin without unscrewing the camera.

Sun Sniper Steel Camera strap

I use this strap to carry a camera when not using a tripod. The attachment to the camera is at the tripod hole on the camera and without removing it you cannot use your tripod.

very handy

Moves the camera from your front to you back for comfort and no bounce. Camera rests on hip in back. Great for long hauls and instant access. Camera swings into position with out resistance because the strap does not move. Want your camera off your chest or stomach? This is it.

Good idea. Overblown execution.

The best bit of this system is the swivel. Well made and very functional. The way the camera hangs and runs on the strap is great. The shoulder pad is comfortable and the suspension does work, but it seems like overkill. My new walk-about set up is now D700 with 70-200. Strap attaches to the foot of the lens. I keep 24mm and 50mm primes in my pocket, when I need to use one, the 70-200 just hangs from the strap. I've also used it with a small back-pack. I was able to have the camera sit below the bag. As the swivel is available separately, you might want to save $40 and fit it to an old bag strap.

Works Perfectly. but practice 1st

Using it for a week in Italy, but it takes getting used to before you get so it's second nature. It feels so radically different. After awhile I stopped thinking about it and let it hang.

The Sun-Sniper-Steel Strap, made by SUN-SNIPER GmbH and distributed exclusively by Sunbounce, is the new generation of quick, pliant and ultra convenient camera straps for professional photographers.

The Sun-Sniper-Steel Strap has a Shock Absorber that absorbs jolts in the strap and makes carrying the camera even more comfortable.

This feature spares the photographer's back and reduces the load on the suspension point of the camera - the tripod socket. This positive effect is particularly noticeable with long lenses.

If a thief manages to cut your "SUN-SNIPER STEEL" camera strap with a knife and steal your camera, you are insured for up to 500 US$ or 400 EUR*.

Because the camera is hanging upside down, in the perfect position you have a quick action strap.
