If you accept the offer, we will send you a check right away, or you can use it as a credit toward any purchase.

If a deal is not made, we will return the merchandise to you, fully insured, at our expense.

What is the Adorama Trade-In Program?

The Adorama Trade-In Program allows you to sell used equipment in exchange for cash or a store credit. To participate, simply send us your used equipment using our free shipping label. Once we receive your equipment, we will call you with a purchase offer. If you agree to our offer, we will pay you via check, direct deposit, or trade-in credit. If you don't agree to our offer, we will return the equipment to you at our expense.

What happens to my used equipment once I agree to sell it to Adorama?

Once you agree to our purchase offer, our team of maintenance professionals will examine the equipment and ready it for resale in our New York City mega store or online. Then, a new owner will have the opportunity to enjoy the equipment as much as you did!

I'm excited to trade in my used equipment. How long does the process take?

We always want to complete the trade-in process quickly so you can receive your cash or upgrade to new gear as soon as possible! Most evaluations are completed within three business days after we receive your equipment. Once we are done with the evaluation, we will give you a call to complete the transaction.

Can I just mail my used equipment on my own?

We prefer you to send your used equipment using our free, prepaid UPS shipping label. When you use our free label, we are able to trace your equipment if it becomes lost in transit. Using our free label also ensures that the evaluation process will be completed as quickly as possible.

I'm worried that my used equipment has no value. Do you ever reject used equipment?

We buy a wide variety of used photography and imaging equipment, from old half-frames to newer digital cameras, lenses, and accessories. We also buy video equipment, lighting, binoculars, and scopes. However, occasionally we are not able to purchase used equipment due to dramatic condition issues or an over abundance of that item in our current stock. When that situation occurs, we will notify you and then return the equipment to you at our expense.

What if I change my mind after I send in my used equipment?

If you change your mind after mailing your equipment, simply let us know and we will send it back to you at our expense. Equipment is never considered sold until you agree to our purchase offer.

When I buy used equipment from Adorama, how do I know I will be getting a good deal? After all, used equipment is available on a lot of other websites.

We know there are a lot of venues for purchasing used photography and imaging gear. But, we set ourselves above our competition by only selling high quality used equipment. If we wouldn't use it ourselves, we don't sell it! Our trade-in procedure requires that we physically examine each piece of used equipment before we purchase it for resale, so we can quickly weed out anything that fails to meet our stringent standards.

You can feel confident shopping for used equipment at Adorama because we are very conservative with our product ratings. We always "rate downward" if the condition of the product is in question so you will always receive the quality equipment you expect!

When I purchase used equipment, what else will I receive?

If you purchase a used digital camera, we will provide a compatible battery and a battery charger. If you purchase a used video camera, you will receive all of the basic components needed for operation. All other products are sold individually without additional accessories or documentation, unless specified at the time of purchase.

I have an Adorama Gift Card. Can I use it to purchase used equipment?

Absolutely! You can use your Adorama Gift Card just like cash to buy any equipment new or used at our New York mega store, over the phone, and on our website. So, have fun shopping!

I just placed an order for used equipment. When will I receive my merchandise?

We want you to start enjoying your used equipment as soon as possible! Orders placed for used equipment by 1:00 PM on Monday-Tursday will generally ship the same day. Orders received after 1:00 PM, Friday orders, weekend orders, or those requiring verification will be processed the next business day.

I know that new equipment comes with a warranty, but what about used equipment?

Some of our used equipment is still under warranty through the manufacturer. When you purchase the equipment, you will be notified of any existing warranty and the amount of time remaining on the coverage. In addition, Adorama provides its own 90 day warranty for all of our used equipment. The Adorama Used Warranty provides full coverage for manufacturing defects.

If I'm not happy with my used equipment purchase, will Adorama let me make a return?

At Adorama, we want you to be completely satisfied with all of your purchases, both new and used! That's why we let you return any used equipment within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked! Plus, we never charge a restocking fee. Store purchases must be returned within 14 days.

How do I return used equipment to Adorama?

To return used equipment to Adorama:

  • Please download and fill out the Return Merchandise Form and include it with the merchandise, along with a copy of the original invoice. No Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number is needed.
  • Used equipment must be returned within 30 days of purchase. Store purchases must be returned within 14 days.. Please see our Return Policy for complete details.
  • Returned used equipment must include any accessories (such as batteries or battery chargers) included with your original purchase.
  • Securely package the product within an outer box. Please do not write or place shipping labels or stickers on the manufacturer's packaging.
