Ball Heads

What is a Ball Head and How Does it Work?
A ball head is a type of tripod head that uses a ball and socket structure for support and flexibility. Ball heads offer quick and easy adjustment and fine tuning. They’re also much more compact than pan-tilt tripod heads that require multiple bulky levers.
Most ball heads feature a ball that’s attached to the camera and a socket that’s attached to the tripod. Notches in the socket make it easy for photographers to shoot in either portrait or landscape orientation.
Ball heads feature compact lever locks so you can position your camera exactly where you want it and lock it in place. Some ball heads also feature a 360-degree rotation plate so you can fine tune your positioning even more.
