Close-Up Lens Filters
Close-up lens filters are a quick and easy way to get closer to your subject. You can use them when photographing flowers, insects, textures, or products like jewelry. They let you magnify your subject and create a closer focusing distance for your lens, and it’s as simple as screwing on a filter.
While these accessories are technically filters that attach to your lenses, some manufacturers refer to them as close-up lenses. The terms are common and used interchangeably.
Increase the functionality of your gear with a close-up lens
When building out your photography kit, you can make any lens into a macro lens with a close-up lens filter. Save money and experiment with new types of photography with this relatively inexpensive and user-friendly accessory.
Plenty of filter sizes to choose from
Choose the correct size of close-up lens by determining the filter size for the lens you want to adapt. Some lenses list the filter size on the front lens element, while others list it on the bottom of the lens itself. Filter size is identified on a lens using a mm measurement and a universal symbol of a circle with a diagonal line through it.

Understanding magnification factor
Close-up lens filters vary in level of magnification. The magnification specifications are listed as “+number.” Options from +.25 all the way up to +10 give you plenty of control to decide how much magnification you want. Some close-up lenses are available in kits so you can adjust your magnification level by swapping out one filter for another.
