Years ago, it was 'publish or perish' for photographers, today it's 'socialize or succumb'. Photographers must know how to use social media effectively and have an effective web presence if they are going to succeed in this ever more competitive environment.
In this presentation, Rick Sammon, well-known photographer and author of 10 apps, including Social Media Marketing for Photographers, will begin by sharing his insights on using social media to build your presence on the web. Rick will talk about how he uses Google+, facebook, and twitter to communicate with a worldwide audience, and what to do–respect the audience–and what not to do–buy twitter followers.
Rick will discuss the importance of having not only a cool, but an effective, website, an all-in-one website where photographers can show galleries of their work, can host their blog, list their events, and so on. Of course, Rick will illustrate his points photographically, because after all, photography comes first for photographers.
Rick's special guest will be Natalie Gourvitch of Squarespace. Natalie will give a brief demo on how fast and easy it is to build a website, offering some advice and best practices around layout and design. She'll also talk about how to effectively drive traffic to your site using built-in social media integrations and tracking tools.
Speaking of Squarespace, be there or be square–this event is a must-attend for photographers who want to know how to improve their image, how they and their work is seen and perceived out in the world, and increase their visibility on the web.
