Replacing a pair that I had bought 12 years ago and at the time they were the cats meow (paid about $115). Have brutalized these poor binoc's whitetail deer hunting in very challenging environments and they never let me down. Have drop, smacked, -20degrees, +100degrees and boy did they help me fill my tags. But alas, this season they fell from a ledge and that was a little to much for them. So instead of returning to NIKON (most likely will in the future) I decided to buy two pairs. [...]

Very useful for birdwatching and stargazing. The only drawback is that the binoculars are a tad heavy.

Bought it mainly for variable star observing: the really wide field makes it easy to find stars and compare them with other stars. MUCH brighter and sharper images than competing models!!! Very accurate colors. No edge-of-field distortion as one review noted for the 8x40 model. Can use with glasses but the range of focus is so great I can use it without my glasses (a real bonus). A real favorite, especially at this price point. Very highly recommended!
